Day 1: Applications

Thread Knowledge

Untangle the mystery behind all those thread weights. You will receive hands-on instruction covering various weights and types of embroidery thread along with when and why they're used.

Needle Types and Usage

Ever wonder what those sizes 60/8 or 90/14 and many others mean? How about light ball, round point or titanium? This course will provide you with complete answers to these and other needle questions.

Stabilizer/Backing and Topping Materials

This course will provide you with samples of backing and topping types and explain when each is commonly used.

Hooping Placement & Techniques

Learn all the tips and tricks used by experienced industrial embroiderers for precise hooping and accurate placement. Explore various hooping aids, boards, clamps and other hooping devices.

Day 2: Digitizing & Techniques

Digitizing Basics

This course is designed for any digitizing system and a must for anyone looking to add or improve their custom digitizing. Course study will include artwork basics, stitch types, stitch variables, manual vs. auto digitizing, pathing a design and much, much more.

Stitching with Applique

We will show you how to incorporate applique materials into your design in just a few easy steps. You will learn different applique techniques, how to deal with difficult materials and how to make your own patterns. Students will hoop and sew their own appliqued bags on Brother's industrial embroidery machines.

Editing for Profit

This is an exciting class where students will learn about the different file types within the embroidery industry. Discover how to edit designs like a professional for less stitch count yet more efficient and better quality designs. Explore editing techniques to gain higher profits with each design!

Day 3: Business & Marketing

Identifying Your Costs for Proper Pricing

In order to properly price your finisshed product, you must first identify your overhead. This course will walk each student through how to complete a cost sheet and evaluate expenses.

Business Goal Setting Techniques

We'll explore the various ways you can establish prices and set your goals to ensure that you will make a profit. You'll also gain more experience and confidence when quoting embroidery jobs.

Sourcing Suppliers

Find out about commercial vendors who supply blank goods suitable for embroidery and specialty items such as patches, cap panel programs, and private labels with your logo.

Marketing
